FindSwap Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 1, 2026
FindSwap ("we") is a Google Docs add-on, published by Tiny Lever, that finds and replaces text and formatting in Google Docs. This policy explains exactly what Google user data the add-on accesses, how it is used, shared, protected, kept and deleted.
1. Data we access
FindSwap requests three Google permissions:
- See, edit, create and delete all your Google Docs documents (documents). FindSwap reads the text and formatting of the document you run it in, so it can show you the matches, and it writes only the changes you choose (replacements, formatting, highlights, clean-up fixes or undo). It opens another document only when you paste that document's link into "Run on other Docs" and click Run. It never opens, lists or searches any other document.
- Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications (script.container.ui). Used only to show the FindSwap menu and sidebar.
- Connect to an external service (script.external_request). Used only to send the Pro license key you type in to our payment provider, Gumroad (api.gumroad.com), to check that it is valid. No document content is ever sent.
FindSwap does not access your email address, contacts, Drive file list, Gmail, Sheets or any other Google data, and does not collect aggregated or anonymized data about you.
2. How we use the data
Document text and formatting are used only to find the matches you asked for, show them in the sidebar and make the changes you choose, at the moment you click a button. We do not use the data for any other purpose, including advertising, analytics, profiling, lending decisions or training AI/ML models.
3. How we share the data
- Your documents are read and changed only by Google's own servers, through the Google Docs API, under your account.
- Your license key is sent to Gumroad to verify a purchase.
- Nothing passes through our own servers (we don't have any). We do not sell, rent or transfer any user data to anyone, including data brokers, advertisers or AI providers.
4. How we protect the data
- Processing happens inside Google's infrastructure under your own Google account; we never receive or store a copy of your documents.
- The add-on is technically restricted (via its manifest's URL allowlist) to contacting only api.gumroad.com, over encrypted HTTPS.
5. Data retention and deletion
- Document content: not retained by us at all.
- Undo history: to let you undo your last changes, the text that was replaced (and its formatting) is kept in your own Apps Script cache inside your Google account for up to 6 hours, then deleted automatically. Only you can access it.
- Settings stored in your Google account by Apps Script: your saved replacement lists, your license key and the date it was last checked. These stay until you remove them.
- To delete: delete saved lists in the List tab, use Account → Remove license to delete the stored license key, and uninstall FindSwap from Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons. You can also email us and we will help.
6. Limited Use
FindSwap's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
