Getting started
- Open a Google Doc.
- Go to Extensions → FindSwap → Find & replace.
- Type what to find and what to replace it with, then click Find. Untick any match you want to keep and click Replace selected.
Common questions
It found fewer matches than I expected. Check Match case, Whole words and whether This tab is selected instead of All tabs. Text split by an image or a chip can't be matched.
How do I undo? Click Undo last on the Find or Clean up tab. Undo is kept for 6 hours. Spots you edited by hand since are left alone. You can always use File → Version history in Google Docs too.
How do regular expressions work? Tick Regex. Use $1, $2 in the replacement for groups. Type $$ for a dollar sign. For example, find (\d+) dollars and replace with $$$1 to turn “5 dollars” into “$5”.
How do I replace a list? On the List tab (Pro), write one line per replacement like colour => color, or paste two columns from Google Sheets. Lines run top to bottom.
Suggestions mode. With As suggestions (Pro), each change appears as a tracked suggestion. Accept or reject them in Docs. Suggestions are not on FindSwap's undo list; just reject them.
The menu only shows "Help". Reload the document and wait a few seconds, then open Extensions → FindSwap again.
How do I activate Pro? After buying, copy the license key from your Gumroad receipt and paste it into Account → Activate in the sidebar.
How do I cancel or get a refund? Cancel anytime from your Gumroad library. For a refund within 14 days, email us.
